Breezy Summer Dress

Summer dresses make me SO happy!! Even better when it is a great paisley print in my opinion. This dress has such a cute smocked waist detail, and is silk so it is flowy and easy while still being excellent quality.  I love this dress with cute gold wedges and a little pop of pink in my clutch to bring out the pink in the paisley print.  Happy Shopping!

Full Skirt and Florals

At this point, I think it is safe to say that this skirt is a Spring staple!!  Rarely have I worn an item 3 times 3 different ways in such short order!  I love that this fun, playful skirt can be dressed up for any event, and that it so easily adapts to a workplace setting.  For this look I grabbed my trusty Kate Spade hazy floral top and Valentino Rockstuds.  Happy Shopping!

Travel Style

You guys.  This top has become an absolute staple in my wardrobe over the last couple of weeks!  I originally picked it up in blush pink to wear with my lululemon pants for our flights to Hawaii. When I travel I like to be comfortable, but also at least a teeny bit stylish and I am always always cold so layers are a must!  I saw this lightweight top in store just a few days before I left for vacation so naturally I snapped it up, then put it on and immediately went back for another color!  Now I am considering grabbing the other 2 colors as well, because I feel like it's one of those tops that I will be so sad to let go of when it gets old and ratty.  The top is soft, comfy, and very flattering.  It's also a great price point and can be worn as a workout to/from top as well as an everyday shirt! Happy Shopping!

The Polished Bow

There are few things in life that can make you feel as instantly polished as an A-line midi skirt. And this is absolutely one of my favorites! It's blush, it's lightweight, it has a slit in the front, and most importantly it has this gorgeous bow.

Are you guys ready for a pro tip?  Bows do not have to be double loop, bunny ear looking things, especially not when you are elevating your bow skirt to office wear.  To get this super cute half bow look, you start a normal bow, then continue to pull one of the loops through until you have a one-loop bow with loose ends that dangle and that's it!  Instantly polished with a fresh take on the classic bow! Happy shopping!

Paisley & Stripes

Pattern mixing for the win!  I am such a sucker for paisley and this pretty little skirt is no exception! The key when it comes to pattern mixing is to keep the color families in your pieces the same - here I played up on the blue and white of the paisley pattern with a simple navy and white striped T.  This would also look amazing with a pink-ish and white stripe or polka dots in either color family.   If you aren't feeling so brave, or just want to jump into pattern mixing slowly, pair a solid in between your patterns to break them up visually.  You get the same effect, but it feels safer.  My add here was a solid navy blue cardigan - bonus - this look can head straight to the office!  Happy shopping!

Packing for Vacation: Pro-Tips

There are few things in the world that can cause as much stress as packing the perfect suitcase.  Do I need this?  What if it's cold? Do I check or carry-on?  What did I forget?

First, know your packing and travel style.  Are you a "accessories change the look and I can wear this 3 times!" or are you a "I need to pack my entire wardrobe because I have NO idea what I want to wear everyday!" I am a notorious over-packer.  And I am Ok with that!!  I do try to follow some of my own advice and whittle down my luggage from 3 checked bags to maybe just 1 and a carryon (or 2!) Stop judging me.

Next, make a list.  Seriously I cannot tell you how much this one little tip has changed my packing life.  I travel all.the.time.  I try to take at least 4 leisure vacations a year, and I have at least 4 or 5 work trips a year, so learning how to pack more efficiently was key for me.

Where do I begin?  Great question, I start with the type of trip and the climate.  Obviously my packing list for a week in Hawaii looks very different than my list for a week in Paris in the Fall.  For my next trip, I'm headed to Hawaii, so that's where I will start this list.  I know that in Hawaii I will be beach or pool side for the majority of my days, with a golf lesson, hike, and a trip into town for the day likely thrown in so I need more swim than usual, and a few day-time outfits that will stand up to some activity.  Then dinners I will change into something else - and I'm always cold ALWAYS - so I need layers I picked up an amazing wrap top in 2 colors available here and I am SO happy with it, soft, comfy, perfect fit, both casual and workout wear - Done!

Knowing those things, I start with my dinner outfits.  This may seem like a strange place to start but it works for me, as you experiment with your list you may start somewhere else and thats good too.  I have 8 nights of dinners, I'm guessing I will dress up for at least 3 of them and the rest can be casual. With that in mind I select some of my favorite go-to's:  A DVF printed silk shirtdress, (I found a similar on sale here!) a cotton striped Ralph Lauren 3/4 sleeve dress, and a gorgeous floral haute hippie midi dress.  Knowing me, I will want jeans on some nights, so I plan on 1 pair of jeans and 2 tops.  While I am not a huge fan of wearing the same things multiple times, I will wear my dinner wear a couple times each as I will be in those outfits for about 3 hours at nighttime.

Next, daytime stuff.  I am a fan of dresses so I've got a linen sleeveless number and a striped cotton swing dress on the list, as well as a maxi dress because it's the perfect throw on and go dress (This one is absolutely perfect!)  I know I'll need shorts for the golf lesson, and maybe a few other days for flights between islands and days in town, I have a few cute shorts (sailor shorts seriously adorable), and a bunch of t-shirts and tanks to interchange.  I try really hard here to make sure that each pair of shorts and shirt can be worn with multiple colors - if I find I've packed shorts that only go with 1 top, I take them right out of the suitcase, this is wear I generally pick up the most discarded items.  Be ruthless here, if it doesn't go with at least 2 things, take it out.

Shoes, ah my god shoes.  I used to pack about 7 pairs of shoes not counting flip flops and flat sandals. That's crazy.  Thankfully, I've realized I really don't need all those shoes on a tropical vacation.  Now, I try to pick one pair of dressy sandals (these are my go-to) that will go with literally everything, a couple pairs of flat dressier sandals, and then a pair of basic flip flops for the beach or pool. And I'm pretty proud of that!!

Perfect T-shirt Dress

If there is one item of clothing I swear I search for all summer long it is the perfect T-shirt dress.  I'm not a huge shorts wearer so these dresses are exactly what I need for hot, throw on and go days.  I am picky though and don't like any that are to clingy or tight, or that are to swingy and trapeze like.  Enter Target's freaking awesome T dress!! Seriously couldn't believe I found this cutie on a Target rack! Happy Shopping!

Chambray & Tweed

Similar Chambray here under $50! // Similar skirt here under $50

Wearing Chambray to the office can be tricky, especially in a conservative, business casual environment.  This look however is all business!  Pairing a very casual chambray with a tweed skirt dresses up the shirt instantly, for my office I would wear pumps and really push this into the acceptable category!

You could also try wearing the chambray under a sleeveless shift dress, or wearing chambray with a pencil skirt and topping it off with a cardigan so only a little peek of the chambray is out at the wrist and collar.   Happy Shopping!

This top is extra awesome because its light weight, long, and very comfy!  This one is paired with white jeans to make it crisp, and a leopard clutch to add a little pattern mixing! Topping off the whole look is my very awesome, wear with everything TB Miller sandals in rose gold.  Happy Shopping!

Full Skirt & Sparkles

Today I want to discuss turning items you may not think about wearing to the work place - like this bright pink full skirt, into perfect business casual attire.  I am in love with this skirt, it has a perfect fit, a beautiful flare, and pockets!  To make this an office outfit, pair a a classic button down shirt - an instant "class it up" piece, add your work tote and a chunky necklace and off you go!  I've finished off this look with my sparkly sandals, and yes I would rock that look to the office, but a classic nude pump would look stunning with this look and put it over the edge for office wear!  Happy Shopping!
