Monochromatic Mixing

Monochromatic mixing is one of my favorite styling themes, it is right up there with pattern mixing for me!  Today is a bight teal wool skirt from J.Crew with a teal, white, and navy printed silk shell all topped off with a navy J.Crew Jackie cardigan.

To play with monochromatic styling grab two pieces in the same color family, but at opposite spectrums (think robins egg blue and navy, lilac and deep purple) and you want to keep the "main" pieces of your combo solid or close to solid.  I like to add in a a smaller piece like a shell or a scarf in a print with some or all of the colors you selected, it helps to "marry" all of the pieces into one cohesive look.  Happy shopping!!
