Coral & Navy

I love pairing a bright coral with a dark neutral, so this time I punched up navy blue with my JCrew No. 2 Cotton Twill Pencil Skirt (here).  Paired with a JCrew silk shell, JCrew Jackie cardigan, and a few accessories.  You'll also notice in my first picture I was photobombed by one of my new kittens :-)

Kauai Trip Review - Part II

January 2014 marked our second trip to the beautiful island of Kauai, I'm sure it won't be our last.  When we visit, we typically stay on the North Shore, close to hiking, nice resorts, and some of the most fabulous food you can get on the island.  One of the things I love about staying up here is that you are forced to leave your resort and head into "local" territory to eat.  You won't find an Olive Garden or a Chili's, and instead you are treated to an abundance of local delights.

Kauai's Kilauea Fish Market

The Kilauea Fish Market was recommended to us by friends as a great lunch stop.  The food was absolutely not disappointing!  We had Fish Tacos and something else that topped the list as "customer favorites".  Both were delicious.  The only downside here were the number of (aggressive) chickens also trying to eat our delicious lunch.

Dolphin Restaurant

The Dolphin Kauai wins for atmosphere, this almost entirely open air restaurant is a great way to enjoy the setting sun of Kauai.  The appetizers and sushi here was good, but not the best I've had.  If you are in the mood for sushi, this is the place to be.

The Postcards Cafe Kauai is an absolute do-not-miss on our travels to Kauai. The fresh fish special NEVER disappoints.  The fish is so fresh and so well prepared I think I could stop in here 3 times a week to enjoy it.  We've also enjoyed amazing servers each time we've stopped in. 

Bar Acuda

Bar Acuda is a hit-or-miss for me.  The first time we came it was a miss and we were pretty disappointed.  The second time it was a super "hit" we loved literally everything we ordered.  This is a tapas style restaurant with a very long wait, and sometimes no availability for dinner, so make a reservation the day before and be prepared to sample a few dishes.  

Tahiti Nui

Kalua Pork and Pineapple pizza.  Also known as "Da Hui" is hands down the best $25 you will ever spend.  It's SO.GOOD.  

This restaurant also makes an appearance in the movie "The Descendants" which put it on the famous map, and features live music and sometimes impromptu hawaiian dancing as the night progresses.  Seriously, what's not to love? 

Summer Separates

Monochromatic's always seem to be my go-to in a pinch.  Today is a Halogen via Nordstrom seamed pencil skirt with a silk Joie top and Banana Republic flower necklace.  I finished off the ensemble with Valentino pumps. 

Wrap it up

The DVF wrap dress got even better with this mixed fabric wrap.  I am a huge HUGE fan of the silk version, but this is knocked-it-out-of-the-park kind of awesome.  This is the Amelia dress, and it comes in an amazing array of colors.  I popped on my Jimmy Choo sandals and boom.  Ready for the workday.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2014 - Introduction

It's here it's here!! Hooray it's here!!!  Words can barely describe the joy and happiness I have when the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale rolls around!!  This year, like every other year, I have managed to scour the racks, read descriptions and try out new looks and pairings to find *exactly* what I need want.  I usually take advantage of this sale to purchase higher-end items that I may not necessarily consider buying until the season was well under way and sale prices began to hit, but with the Anniversary sale, you can shop fall on sale before it even gets here! LOVE THAT!

I never suffer from a lack of solid wear to work options.  My favorite thing about some of these pieces are that they transition flawlessly from work to everyday without issue.  My favorites in the below collection are the Theory houndstooth dress, the sleeveless Theory black and white top (so amazing on!!), and the Joie green silk top.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2014 - Shoes and Accessories

Celebrity Summit Royal Suite 6137

Our home for 7 great days on the beautiful Celebrity Summit!
 We booked and thoroughly enjoyed Royal Suite 6137
on this marvelous ship.

        I absolutely loved the Celebrity Summit Royal Suite 6137
.  It was huge, well appointed, and came with a great amount of space.  Also included was 2 bottles of liquor and access to the VIP lounge (formerly Michaels Club).  We found our Butler and all Concierge services to be outstanding.  

I especially appreciated the walk in closet, hot tub on the balcony, and the separate sitting areas on the balcony.  This is also the first separate bedroom suite we've had on the ship and it was absolutely amazing to have!

I wouldn't hesitate to book this suite again.  Happy Sailing!
